Key takeaways

  • What it is: Universal Orlando’s fourth theme park, built around Celestial Park and four portals to other worlds.
  • The five worlds: Celestial Park, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic, SUPER NINTENDO WORLD, How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk, and Dark Universe.
  • Tickets: Epic Universe is ticketed separately from Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure. Express Pass is a separate add-on.
  • Best first move: Arrive well before opening, pick one headline ride to do first, and check wait times in the official app before you commit to a portal.
  • New this fall: Universal Nights, a separately ticketed after-hours event, runs on select dates through November 20, 2026.

Epic Universe is not a bigger version of the parks you already know. You enter through one central garden, then step through portals into worlds that each have their own architecture, music, food, and rules of play. That structure is what makes the park feel special, and it is also what makes it easy to waste the first two hours standing in the wrong place.

This guide covers what to buy, where to sleep, what each world is best at, and how to spend a day without burning out. For live wait times and crowd flow, keep the Universal Epic Universe tracker open as you go.

Epic Universe at a glance

The park opened in May 2025 and sits on a large site at the south end of Universal Orlando Resort. Universal’s own description is five immersive worlds, all reached from a single green hub.

Tickets, Express Pass, and parking

Prices move with demand, so treat the numbers below as starting points and check Universal’s ticket page for your dates.

Admission

Single-day Epic Universe tickets have started around $139 for adults, with higher prices on busy dates. Multi-day tickets that add Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure lower the per-day cost, and park-to-park versions let you hop between parks on the same day. Annual passes have not included Epic Universe admission, so passholders should confirm their current options directly with Universal.

Express Pass

Epic Universe sells its own Express Pass, separate from admission. It is single use, which means one fast entry per participating attraction per day. Pricing is dynamic and has started near $130 and climbed above $300 on peak dates. It is worth a hard look if you only have one day, you are visiting in a busy week, or two or three specific rides are non-negotiable. It is not required. Guests who arrive before opening and follow a plan can see most of the park on standby.

Parking

General parking has been priced in the low-to-mid $30s, with a higher-priced prime lot closer to the entrance. Pre-paying online can save a few dollars. Hotel guests have a separate parking rate, and the on-site hotels can also be walking distance to the park.

Check before you pay

Ticket, Express, and parking prices change often. The official Universal Orlando ticket page is the source of truth.

Where to stay

Three of Universal’s newest hotels sit beside the park. Universal Helios Grand Hotel, a Loews Hotel, has a dedicated entrance into Epic Universe, so you can walk from your room to Celestial Park. Valid park admission is still required. Universal Stella Nova Resort and Universal Terra Luna Resort are the prime-value options, and both are designed as gateways to the resort.

On-site hotel guests may also receive Early Park Admission, which can turn a long first-ride queue into a short one. Universal lists the benefit by park and by day on its hours page, so check the date you plan to visit. One more detail families will like: Helios Grand offers a How to Train Your Dragon Kids’ Suite, a 545-square-foot room with a separate kids’ room and two twin beds that sleeps up to five.

How the park is laid out

Everything starts in Celestial Park, a lush hub of fountains, gardens, restaurants, and shops. From there, four portals lead to the other worlds. Treat the hub like a lobby: walk through it, grab a drink, and check wait times, but do not spend your best morning hours in it.

The practical takeaway is that every trip between worlds runs back through the center. Group your day by world, finish one before moving on, and you will cut a lot of walking.

Celestial Park

Celestial Park is where you will spend your breaks. It holds the park’s biggest outdoor coaster, a handful of excellent restaurants, and the nighttime show.

What to do

  • Stardust Racers. A dual-launch racing coaster with two trains that race across roughly 5,000 feet of track, topping out around 62 mph and 133 feet. It has a 48-inch height requirement and test seats at the entrance. It is snug by design, so claustrophobic riders should try the test seat first.
  • Constellation Carousel. A gentle, beautiful ride where the constellations take physical form as lions, dragons, and bears. Good for every age and a nice reset between thrill rides.
  • Celestial Goodnight. The nightly fireworks and music finale. More on that in the shows section.

Shopping here is worth a stop even if you are not a souvenir person. The Nintendo Super Star Store, Other Worlds Mercantile, Moonship Chocolates & Celestial Sweets, and Lens Flare (for My Universal Photo packages) all sit in or near the hub, so you can buy on your way out instead of carrying bags all day.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic

This world covers two eras. You start on the cobbled streets of 1920s wizarding Paris, then take the Métro-Floo to the British Ministry of Magic in the 1990s. Universal’s description of the world is a good summary: fantastic beasts in Paris, and new thrills with Harry, Ron, and Hermione at the Ministry.

What to do

  • Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry. The flagship attraction. Riders soar on a magical lift while helping Harry, Ron, and Hermione stop Dolores Umbridge. It won Amusement Today’s 2025 Golden Ticket Award for Best New Attraction Installation and a 2026 Thea Award for Outstanding Achievement: Ride Experiences. The queue is part of the show, so do not rush it if the wait is manageable.
  • Le Cirque Arcanus. A live show mixing performers, puppetry, and special effects, with fantastic beasts up close.
  • Interactive wand magic. Wands from Cosme Acajor Baguettes Magique work at stations on the Paris streets, and Universal says interactive wands work across all three Wizarding World locations.
  • Place Cachée. The hidden wizarding street itself. Walk it slowly. Look at the shop windows and listen for the live music.

For food, Café L’air De La Sirène serves French-inspired quick-service breakfast, lunch, and dinner; Le Gobelet Noir is a moody quick-service spot for Dark witches and wizards; and Bar Moonshine pours drinks in a room full of wizarding Americana.

SUPER NINTENDO WORLD

You enter through the iconic green pipe, and the world splits into Super Mario Land and Donkey Kong Country. The whole area is built around play, and the wearable that unlocks it is the Power-Up Band.

What to do

  • Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge. A ride where you race through iconic courses, throw shells, and collect digital coins to beat Team Bowser. It is one of the park’s most in-demand attractions, so make it an early priority.
  • Mine-Cart Madness. A family coaster in Donkey Kong Country where you help Donkey Kong protect the Golden Banana.
  • Yoshi’s Adventure. A gentle, family-friendly ride through Mushroom Kingdom landscapes as you look for glowing eggs.
  • Key Challenges. With a Power-Up Band, you can win keys in interactive activities, collect digital coins and stamps, and check your rankings.
  • Character meets. Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, and Toad are all around.

Food options include Toadstool Cafe, The Bubbly Barrel, Yoshi’s Snack Island, and Turbo Boost Treats. Merchandise is at 1-UP Factory, Mario Motors, and Funky’s Fly ‘n’ Buy.

Do I need a separate ticket for this world?

No. All five worlds are covered by an Epic Universe ticket. During busy periods Universal can use virtual lines for select attractions, so check the app when you arrive.

How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk

This is the warmest world in the park, a Viking village where dragons and humans live together. It is also the best choice for families with younger kids, because it has a coaster, a water ride, a big play area, and a stage show.

What to do

  • Hiccup’s Wing Gliders. A coaster that swoops and soars around the island for a dragon’s-eye view.
  • Dragon Racer’s Rally. A more intense flying ride with aerobatic maneuvers and barrel rolls. It has a 48-inch height requirement.
  • Fyre Drill. A watery boat battle where teams try to out-soak each other. Expect to get wet.
  • Viking Training Camp. A sprawling interactive play area for young Vikings.
  • The Untrainable Dragon. A live show in which a new dragon arrives and tests Hiccup, Gobber, and Astrid. It is also a great air-conditioned break. The land won a 2026 Thea Award for Outstanding Achievement: Theme Park Land.

Eat at Mead Hall for hearty meats, fish, and meads, ciders, and ales, or Spit Fyre Grill for flame-seared quick service. Hooligan’s Grog and Gruel is the snack stop.

Dark Universe

Dark Universe takes you to Darkmoor Village, a foggy, crumbling town built around the Universal Classic Monsters and the experiments of Dr. Victoria Frankenstein. It is the park’s most atmospheric world, and it is best experienced with the sun going down.

What to do

  • Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment. Dr. Frankenstein puts you in the middle of an angry revolt of monsters. It is intense, with a 48-inch height requirement, so think carefully before bringing younger or easily frightened kids.
  • Curse of the Werewolf. A spinning coaster that sends you speeding through the deep woods.
  • Character encounters. Meet Frankenstein’s Monster and his Bride, Ygor, the Invisible Man, and other Darkmoor residents.
  • Darkmoor Monster Makeup Experience. A bookable add-on that turns you into Dracula, Frankenstein’s Monster, or another creature with temporary tattoos or face makeup. Ages 5 and up.

Dining includes Das Stakehaus (vampire-themed quick service), The Burning Blade Tavern, and De Lacey’s Cottage for snacks and cool treats. Shops include Pretorius’ Scientific Oddities, The Manor Storehouse, and The Guild of Mystics.

Ride cheat sheet

Height rules are one of the most common reasons families change plans mid-day, so measure kids before you leave. The numbers below are the minimums commonly reported by trip planners. Universal can change them, and test seats and posted signs on the day always win.

Where to eat

Epic Universe’s food is better than theme-park food has any right to be, and every world has its own flavor. Midday is the pinch point, so eat early or late, and use mobile ordering at quick-service spots when it is offered.

Sit-down meals in Celestial Park

Atlantic is the park’s premier full-service restaurant, an undersea-themed room where giant illuminated fish circle overhead and the menu leans toward seafood and steak. The Blue Dragon Pan-Asian Restaurant is a lantern-lit courtyard that serves a tour of Asian dishes. Table-service restaurants book up, so reserve through the official Universal dining reservations page or the app as soon as your dates are set.

Quick service and snacks in Celestial Park

  • The Oak & Star Tavern: barbecue and cold beer under a starlit oak tree.
  • Pizza Moon: a Victorian theater turned pizzeria. Vegan Harvest Moon pizzas are on the menu.
  • Meteor Astropub: a gastropub with a celestial twist.
  • Star Sui Bao: an Asian cart with creative steamed bao, near Stardust Racers.
  • Comet Dogs: hot dogs with toppings, next to the carousel.
  • Frosty Moon: ice cream in Arcadia Garden.
  • Bars: Plastered Owl Bar (ales), CelesTiki (tiki drinks), and Bar Zenith (unusual cocktails with a view of the fountain shows).

Other worlds

  • Ministry of Magic: Café L’air De La Sirène, Le Gobelet Noir, Bar Moonshine.
  • SUPER NINTENDO WORLD: Toadstool Cafe, The Bubbly Barrel, Yoshi’s Snack Island, Turbo Boost Treats.
  • Isle of Berk: Mead Hall, Spit Fyre Grill, Hooligan’s Grog and Gruel.
  • Dark Universe: Das Stakehaus, The Burning Blade Tavern, De Lacey’s Cottage.

Guests must be 21 or older with a valid photo ID to buy and drink alcohol. Browse all menus on the official Epic Universe dining page.

Shows and nighttime entertainment

Shows are not filler at Epic Universe. They are some of the park’s best attractions, and they give your feet and your phone battery a break.

  • Le Cirque Arcanus (Ministry of Magic): live performers, puppetry, and effects.
  • The Untrainable Dragon (Isle of Berk): a big, heartfelt stage show.
  • Celestial Trio and other live music in Celestial Park and on Place Cachée.
  • Celestial Goodnight (Celestial Park): the nightly closing show built from fountains, projection, music, and fireworks.

Showtimes and details can change without notice, so confirm them in the app on the day. As a rule of thumb, claim a waterfront spot well ahead of the show, about 45 minutes early on busy nights. After the show, linger by the fountains for a few minutes instead of racing the crowd to the exit. If you still have energy, Universal CityWalk is open late, and our Orlando Entertainment hub covers more nights out.

Universal Nights at Epic Universe

Universal Nights is a newer, separately ticketed after-hours event with limited capacity and special perks. The remaining dates this season are October 3, October 17, October 24, November 6, and November 20, 2026. Tickets were listed at $179 per person plus tax for ages 3 and up. It is subject to availability, with additional restrictions, so read the terms on the official Universal Nights page before you buy.

Sample itineraries

One day: the headliners plan

  1. Arrive 45 to 60 minutes before opening.Park, clear security, and be at the entrance ready to move. Use hotel Early Park Admission if you qualify.
  2. Ride your top priority first.Pick one: Battle at the Ministry (Ministry of Magic) or Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge (SUPER NINTENDO WORLD). Check the app at the gate and go where the line is shorter.
  3. Finish that world.Explore the shops, eat a quick early lunch, and see a show or a character meet.
  4. Move to Celestial Park for Stardust Racers. If the line is long, come back near closing when waits often drop.
  5. Mid-afternoon: Isle of Berk.Ride Hiccup’s Wing Gliders, then catch The Untrainable Dragon for a cool, seated break.
  6. Early evening: Dark Universe.Monsters Unchained and Curse of the Werewolf feel better as the light fades.
  7. Close the night in Celestial Park.Watch Celestial Goodnight from a spot you claimed early.

Two days: slow it down

Day one covers Ministry of Magic and SUPER NINTENDO WORLD, the two biggest draws. Spend the afternoon in Celestial Park for Stardust Racers, dinner at Atlantic, and the closing show. Day two goes to Isle of Berk and Dark Universe, repeats any favorites, and leaves time for the Darkmoor Monster Makeup Experience and shopping. With two days you can skip Express Pass entirely and still ride everything.

Pro tips for your Epic visit

  • Download the official Universal Orlando app. It shows live wait times, showtimes, virtual line details, and mobile ordering.
  • Use single rider lines where offered if your group does not need to sit together. Mario Kart, Stardust Racers, and Curse of the Werewolf have been reported to offer them.
  • Try the test seat. It beats finding out at the front of the line that a restraint does not fit. Some coasters here are snug by design.
  • Plan for Florida weather. Afternoon storms are common. Bring a light rain jacket and expect to use covered shows and dining as shelter.
  • Wear broken-in shoes. Celestial Park alone is a lot of walking, and the park spreads out from there.
  • Keep your phone charged. The app does a lot of work, so a small battery pack pays for itself.
  • Book dining and add-ons early. Atlantic, The Blue Dragon, and the Monster Makeup Experience can fill up.
  • Review accessibility options in advance. Universal lists services on its accessibility information page.

Frequently asked questions

Is Epic Universe included with a Universal Studios Florida or Islands of Adventure ticket?

No. It needs its own admission, or a multi-day ticket that explicitly includes an Epic Universe day.

Do I need a separate ticket for SUPER NINTENDO WORLD?

No. An Epic Universe ticket gets you into all five worlds. During busy periods Universal may use virtual lines for select attractions, so check the app.

How many days do I need?

One day covers the headliners if you arrive early and stay late. Two days feels relaxed and lets you enjoy the shows, meals, and details without racing.

What is the fastest ride at Epic Universe?

Stardust Racers. The dual-launch racing coaster reaches about 62 mph.

Do I need dining reservations?

Quick-service spots take walk-up and mobile orders. Table-service restaurants like Atlantic and The Blue Dragon are much safer with reservations, especially on weekends and holidays.

Is Express Pass worth it?

It can be on a busy date or if you have only one day. It is a single-use pass, sold separately from admission and priced dynamically. On quieter days, arriving early and following a plan often works.

Is Epic Universe good for young kids?

Yes, especially Isle of Berk (Viking Training Camp, Fyre Drill, The Untrainable Dragon), Yoshi’s Adventure, and Constellation Carousel. Check height rules for the bigger rides, and consider skipping Monsters Unchained for sensitive kids.

The bottom line

Epic Universe rewards people who plan the first hour and relax afterward. Choose your headline ride, book your big meal, and let the worlds do the rest. Whether you come for Harry Potter, Mario, dragons, monsters, or the sheer scale of Celestial Park, the park is built to be wandered. Just make sure you wander on purpose.
