Sailing Into the Golden Age of Piracy
Housed inside a magnificent Spanish-colonial fortress known as Castillo Del Morro, the queue winds past armaments, dungeons, and overhead pirates before you board your 24-passenger boat (bateaux).
The journey begins with a deceptive plunge down a 14-foot dark waterfall, dropping you straight into the middle of a cannon battle between a pirate ship and a fortress. From there, you drift through bustling burning towns, brawling buccaneers, and hidden treasure rooms featuring audio-animatronic favorites like Captain Jack Sparrow. If you love this level of classic, immersive storytelling and audio-animatronics, be sure to also check out our guide to the Haunted Mansion over in Liberty Square.
Before heading into Adventureland, it is always wise to check the live Magic Kingdom wait times to see how the standby queue is holding up.

Pirates of the Caribbean FAQs
Is there a drop on Pirates of the Caribbean?
Yes. There is a single 14-foot drop down a dark waterfall right at the beginning of the voyage. It can catch first-time riders by surprise and may cause a minor splash.
Does Pirates of the Caribbean take an on-ride photo?
Yes! Just as you exit the underground grotto right before the drop, look to your left and smile at the talking skull and crossbones. The photo will automatically link to your My Disney Experience app.
